We are proud to announce that Wayne State University (WSU) is the recipient of our 3rd Annual Research Cluster Grant, a program in which we and our partners donate a complete high-performance compute cluster to an outstanding research or higher education institution. Wayne State University, located in midtown Detroit, is one of the nation's 50 largest public universities, with annual research expenditures of nearly $260 million, and among only 3.5 percent of U.S. universities with the Carnegie Foundation's highest research classification. The addition of the Silicon Mechanics cluster to the WSU facility is expected to provide a powerful and flexible new research tool.

zStax® products now certified with NexentaStor™ 4.0

We are now offering the latest version of NexentaStor on all of our zStax® ZFS unified storage appliances. Version 4.0 is based on the Illumos kernel, which brings many new enhancements to our zStax products, including the LZ4 compression algorithm, which has better compression ratios and performance over LZJB; and L2ARC compression, allowing for a more efficient use of caching devices. In addition to these exciting new features, enhancements to the product allow for faster failover times in highly available configurations with lots of attached devices, support for up to 512GB ARC, SMB 2.1, and a multitude of GUI enhancements.
