Silicon Mechanics Announces Sponsorship of Cascadia IT ConferenceRegional gathering focuses on education for open source system administrators
Silicon Mechanics, Inc. announces that it will sponsor the Seattle Area System Administration Guild's (SASAG's) opening reception at Cascadia IT, an annual regional conference for up to 150 computer and network administration professionals from the U.S. Pacific Northwest and British Columbia. Cascadia IT will take place March 15–16, 2013, at the Hotel Deca, in Seattle, Washington. Silicon Mechanics will be hosting the conference's opening reception on behalf of SASAG. In addition, Silicon Mechanics will be showcasing its zStax unified storage appliance and high-performance computing, integration, and general computing products and services. The Cascadia IT gathering for computer support professionals is co-sponsored by SASAG and its national parent organization, the League of Professional System Administrators (LOPSA), whose mission is to advance the practice of system administration and to support, recognize, educate, and encourage its practitioners. As an active and engaged longtime sponsor of SASAG, Silicon Mechanics attends monthly SASAG meetings and participates in frequent and in-depth discussions on best practices. "Being a sponsor of the Cascadia IT conference is just one of the ways that Silicon Mechanics gives back to the local open source community, promotes local system administrators, and demonstrates its long-term support for SASAG/LOPSA," said Michael Fein, Silicon Mechanics' Director of Sales.
