Two Hot New Intel Technologies . . .The new Intel Xeon 5500 processors (codenamed "Nehalem") are being exceptionally well received! Users are enjoying increased performance and decreased energy consumption, making server refresh very appealing, and especially so in virtualized environments. Check out Intel's ROI estimator for an in-depth look at what a server refresh could do for your performance, density, and energy efficiency. Need a primer on the Intel Xeon 5500? Download a copy of the Silicon Mechanics Guide to the Intel Xeon 5500.
Not to be outdone, the new Intel Solid State Drives are also offering up what many IT professionals are looking for: fast, reliable, quiet, cool-running drives. Silicon Mechanics is now making the X25-E Extreme SATA Solid-State Drive SLC (32 and 64GB) an available option in most of our server, storage, and high-performance computing products -- including making them available with adapters for use in 3.5" drive carriers! Download the Silicon Mechanics Guide to SSDs for more details about the technology and how you can make them work for you.
Storage Products with the Intel Xeon 5500Silicon Mechanics has just introduced three new storage server products built on the new Intel Xeon 5500 processor platform. Your favorite "bare metal" storage (without storage management software) like the Storform iServ R503, R505, and R506, have been upgraded to take advantage of the new processor's performance and energy efficiency improvements.
Silicon Mechanics and Second LifeDo you wonder what it would be like to work with Silicon Mechanics? A newly-released Intel case study examines how Linden Lab, makers of Second Life, joined forces with Intel and Silicon Mechanics to maximize performance and minimize environmental impact. Download the case study here!
Silicon Mechanics and Simulia WebinarOn April 2 Silicon Mechanics and Simulia presented the webinar "Accelerate Simulation Productivity with Abaqus FEA on Personal Clusters by Silicon Mechanics". For anyone who would like to examine the idea of moving from a workstation to a personal cluster, this webinar is for you! It's available at the Simulia website, and we invite you to call your Silicon Mechanics sales representative with any questions you may have.
Would you like to test drive the Hyperform HPCi Cluster for SIMULIA? Visit www.simulationclusters.com, click on "VIRTUAL TEST DRIVE" at the bottom of the page, and register to run your Abaqus 6.8 workload on the Silicon Mechanics Hyperform ICR Cluster. You send them the input and log files from one of your successful Abaqus 6.8 simulation analyses, and they will run the performance tests and send you the results. See what moving onto a personal cluster can do to improve your performance and productivity!
