Silicon Mechanics Announces Support for Six-Core AMD Opteron™ Processors

BOTHELL, WA – June 1, 2009 – Silicon Mechanics, Inc., a leading provider of rackmount servers, storage, and high-performance computing solutions, today announced support for the new six-core AMD Opteron™ processor (codenamed Istanbul). The six-core processors are built on 45nm process technology.

The most popular features in recent releases of the Opteron–Enhanced PowerNow!™ Technology, Dual Dynamic Power Management™, HyperTransport™ technology, and functions that allow users to optimize and manage virtualized environments– are now joined by HT Assist. HT Assist can improve performance in multi-node systems, and speed up queries in cache-sensitive applications.
