"When one of our servers died (due to overheating), having heard good things about Silicon Mechanics, we called them to order a new server. Although we were not customers (yet) they built a machine that day for us and we had it installed within hours.
They also repaired the dead machine, which was not a Silicon Mechanics machine, free-of-charge and even improved it by replacing and rewiring the bulky cables to improve airflow. That machine has been functioning like new ever since. Silicon Mechanics is our only vendor now.

"Silicon Mechanics is building a new server for my company right now. They advertise "Expert Included", implying you will receive top-notch support along with an excellent server. What that fails to imply is the amazing support you'll get before you order. I requested the idle noise level of the server. Within 48 hours I got an email apologizing for the delay, and in the meantime they had pulled a server, ordered a sound level meter, found a quiet room and tested the server. The server as quoted was louder than I was willing to tolerate, so they asked a few questions about my priorities. Shortly thereafter, I got another quote via email labeled "quiet cousin". They opted to custom tune the system, with a guaranteed maximum SPL within my tolerances. Then I got a call informing me the system was going to be a tad more expensive than originally quoted, as they were replacing the standard fans with maglev fans. I had no idea there were such things, but having experienced a maglev train I am expecting a rather quiet server. Finally, they told me to expect delivery next week; a full week ahead of their original estimate. Wow!"
