Silicon Mechanics Announces Intel® Xeon® Processor E3-1200 v3 Product Family

New generation of processors improves performance, reduces power consumption

Silicon Mechanics, Inc. announces that it now offers a range of products built with the newly launched Intel® Xeon® processor E3-1200 v3 product family, the latest generation of processors for entry-level servers. The new E3-1200 v3 processor product family (formerly code-named Haswell) features new architecture built with power in mind, and offers greatly improved energy efficiency and power consumption. Products with the new processor include Silicon Mechanics' Rackform iServ R101.v5, R133.v5, and R135.v5.

The E3-1200 v3-based platform features reduced power consumption, beginning with a fully integrated voltage regulator (FIVR), an industry-first innovation that unifies five voltage regulators onto the chip for better control and performance. Other innovations include improved power gating, a power management unit, a chipset with reduced power consumption, and reduced transistor leakage. It all adds up to 10 percent improved performance over the E3-1200 v2 line.

Boasting all the features of earlier versions, the new Intel® Xeon® processor E3-1200 v3 product family includes Turbo Boost and Hyper-Threading Technology, in addition to such important security features as Intel® Secure Key, Intel® OS Guard, and Intel® AES-NI (Advanced Encryption Standard – New Instructions).
