Silicon Mechanics Announces the Arrival of Servers Based on the Intel® XEON® Processor E3-1200

Excellent entry-level servers debut Ivy Bridge microarchitecture

Silicon Mechanics, Inc., a leading manufacturer of rackmount servers, storage, and high-performance computing clusters, announces that it now offers servers based on the Intel® Xeon® Processor E3-1200 V2 product family. These will be some of the first servers with processors based on Intel's new Ivy Bridge microarchitecture, which provides faster and more power-efficient performance than its predecessor, Sandy Bridge.

Silicon Mechanics now offers three servers which utilize the Intel® Xeon® Processor E3-1200 family, and plans to expand Ivy Bridge capability to more product families as it becomes available. The current servers based on the Intel Xeon E3-1200 V2 product family feature up to 32 GB DDR3-1600 RAM, four Ethernet ports, a PCIe 3.0 x16 slot, and 80 PLUS Gold Certified power supplies.

"The Rackform iServ R135 is an ideal entry-level server," said Ken Hostetler, Director of Product Management at Silicon Mechanics. "With the Intel Xeon E3-1200 V2 product family, it provides faster RAM and uses power more efficiently. By purchasing a server with the latest microarchitecture, our customers can also get a very long lifespan out of their servers."
