Silicon Mechanics Announces Elevation of Eva Cherry to President

First female to assume the role of chief executive for Bothell, Washington-based integrator
of servers, storage, and high-performance computing hardware

BOTHELL, WA – October 6, 2009 – Silicon Mechanics announced today that Eva Cherry has assumed the role of President for the Bothell, Washington-based manufacturer of rackmount servers, storage, and high-performance computing hardware. Cherry joined Silicon Mechanics in April of 2008 as Vice President of Operations. In that capacity, she implemented strategic changes to the organization's operations that streamlined production processes, improved quality assurance, and enhanced financial management practices. These changes were integral to the company's ability to not only withstand the effects of last year's financial downturn, but to increase sales and customer acquisition activities throughout 2009.

Cherry, who is the first female to serve as a Chief Executive for Silicon Mechanics, has extensive professional and educational background in technical operations. Prior to joining Silicon Mechanics, she served as Chief Executive Officer of Net-Inspect, LLC, a subsidiary of QPM Aerospace, which she served as Executive Vice President. She has specific expertise in business process and system design and implementation.

Before her work for QPM Aerospace, she was a Senior Manager at Deloitte Consulting, specializing in Business Development and Project Delivery. She has worked with numerous prestigious clients including the Hewlett Packard and MCI (Worldcom). Cherry earned her B.S. degree from Technical University in Plovdiv, Bulgaria in Microbiology and her MBA from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg.

Ms. Cherry succeeds Robert Heyer, who has served as the company's President since 2007. Mr. Heyer will continue to participate actively in guiding the company as a member of the Board of Directors.
