Description
Add-on module that protects against data loss in the event of
a server or power failure by providing emergency power to the
cache memory. When power is restored, the data not yet written
to the hard drives can be retrieved from cache memory.
Intelligent BBU
In addition, this module offers the added functionality to
automatically charge the battery pack and communicate with the
host system the battery status, such as voltage, temperature,
and capacity.
Lithium-Ion
LSI has released several new Li-ion battery backups for use with
MegaRAID adapters. The main advantage of Li-ion batteries is that
they are able to store more energy and hold their charge longer
than other types of rechargeable batteries.
Please note that in order to use the Li-ion batteries, you must first
update the adapter with firmware dated May 7th, 2008 or later. This
will ensure compatibility between the battery and the adapter.
