Hyperform Clusters by Silicon Mechanics
High Performance Computing at Silicon Mechanics has taken another step forward with the launch of Hyperform Clusters, an expansion and consolidation of our HPC hardware offerings. The newest addition to the Hyperform family is Hyperform ICR, an Intel Cluster Ready certified cluster. The Hyperform ICR cluster configuration is presented in our online cluster configuration tool, which means you can interactively create the configuration best suited to your HPC cluster requirements, using the certified Hyperform ICR cluster as your starting point. Proof Point Video
Silicon Mechanics also recently completed a Proof Point activity in conjunction with the Intel Cluster Ready Program, which successfully demonstrated that seven separate ISV codes could be successively loaded onto this one cluster, and run successfully. See video coverage of the Proof Point Activities. Silicon Mechanics Cited in HPC Cluster Success Story
In a case study recently posted by Microsoft, Silicon Mechanics was highlighted as the hardware provider for a Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003 HPC cluster implemented by the Daggett Research Group at the University of Washington Department of Bioengineering. The Daggett Research Group employs computational science to study the behavior of proteins at the molecular level, and the Group reports outstanding results. See the case study for the details on the hardware other specifications. Rackform 259 Now Available
Announcing the availability of the Rackform 259. The iServ R259 is available with Intel® Xeon® processors, and the nServ A259 comes with Quad-Core AMD Opteron™ processors. This is a power packed 1U with 8 2.5" drives and redundant power supplies.

Virtualization
Virtualization has arrived. Whether your goal is sustainable computing, server consolidation, space efficiency, disaster recovery or data security, you are probably considering virtualization as a possibility. Take a look at the new Silicon Mechanics Virtualization server products, or if you just want to learn more about the subject, read the virtualization articles.
Sustainable Computing
It's the industry's hot topic. We have great new configurations that emphasize energy efficiency, and they can be an important part of your approach to "green computing", but "green" is so much more than a hardware choice. For more background about the challenges we face and the methodologies to formulate solutions, visit our Sustainable Computing category.
With that same thought in mind, we are proud to announce that Silicon Mechanics is now a member of The Green Grid, and a charter member of the Green IT Alliance. For more on what those organizations do, and to review our other industry involvement, visit our Sponsorship page.
Silicon Mechanics Named to Entrepreneur Hot 100
We are proud to announce that we have been named to Entrepreneur Magazine's 2008 Hot 100, with a ranking of #29. The Hot 100 is a listing of "America's Top Fast-Growth Businesses and the Entrepreneurs Who Built Them". You can see our profile in the May 2008 issue of Entrepreneur, or view it online. We have to offer our sincere thanks to our customers — this clearly could not have happened without you!

Library
Cluster technology is a complicated proposition, but increasingly required for a host of scientific and technical activities. The Intel Cluster Ready program, in an effort to streamline and simplify the process of deploying HPC clusters, established the ICR specification so that certified clusters will work, period. Hard to believe? Perhaps, which is the purpose of the Proof Point activity. Watch the Silicon Mechanics Proof Point video (about 6 minutes long), and see why it is that seven separate ISV codes could be successively loaded onto one cluster, and run successfully.
Don't miss our new section on Virtualization. We can offer an overview of the subject, a look at some of the pros and cons of virtual environments, and we have put together a list of links out to various articles and papers that could be just what you're looking for.
If you're looking for information on sustainable computing, the Sustainable Computing section of our Library is a great place to start. We have summarized some of the research we've found, but if you would like a longer list of sources, check out our Recommended Reading page.
