Sales Engineer
ESSENTIAL TASKS & DUTIES
Should be able to solve sales support problems. Answers prospects and salespersons product questions. Prepares and performs detailed product demonstrations and product prototypes for prospects. May provide installation support and post-sales consulting. Operates under moderate supervision. Reports to the Sales Engineering Manager.
- Coordinate with sales associates to manage, interpret, and service customer requirements on individual products and larger integration projects.
- Help sales associates identify and modify existing platforms that address customer needs, and when necessary help in the design of customized solutions.
- Work with customer support staff to offer post-sales technical assistance on custom products.
- Support marketing activities by attending trade shows, conferences and other marketing events.
- Provide training and produce support material for both staff and customers.
- Review and validate hardware and software compatibility/interoperability of server technology using information from vendor contacts, roadmaps and websites.
- Perform Quality Assurance on new customer-facing configurations.
- Use ticketing system to monitor and manage tasks.
Candidates may also be asked to complete tasks for larger projects and independently complete smaller projects. Engineers will complete these tasks and projects while not performing their primary functions.
The engineer should be customer-focused, extremely detail-oriented, well organized, and have a desire to learn. Acquiring new skills will be aided by senior group members, but will require a large degree of independence and aptitude for research.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge & Skills
- 2 or more years of experience with UNIX/Linux and server hardware;
- Strong organizational and communication skills;
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills;
- Ability to follow instructions;

- Process-oriented habits; and
- Strong work ethic.
Education Minimum Requirements/Equivalent
- Bachelors degree or equivalent post-high school education or experience.
- A degree or certificate in computer science or a related field;
- Previous experience in PC manufacture or a related area; and
- Motivation to advance in the profession.
